Eclectic east village

The Cedar Hills neighborhood came about as we prepared to move to our new property and felt like some of our residents needed a change. We brought together a group of unique individuals who weren’t as integrated with their previous herds. This little group of misfits has some social quirks, but they’ve all come together as a wonderful family, balancing and giving confidence to each other.

Maxwell

If you’ve been to CTPR at any point since 2016, you know Maxwell! He’s one of the most affectionate and outgoing residents, and never misses an opportunity to meet visitors. Maxwell’s human dad was tragically killed in a shooting in Fort Hood in 2014. His mom, who was also in the army, had her life ripped apart and needed to move away. She surrendered Maxwell to another sanctuary at the time, but Maxwell wasn’t able to get as much attention as he deserves here. We’re so lucky to be that home for him now and forever. Maxwell’s mom still loves, supports, and visits Maxwell whenever she is in town.
Petunia

Small but a queen! Petunia was rescued in the Bastrop Seizure of 2016. She is one of our older residents, was likely over-bred, and is missing her bottom lip giving her a permanent beautiful smile. Tuni is a respected gal among her peers. Her best friends are Maxwell & Logan.
Logan

Logan was saved in the Bastrop Cruelty Seizure of 2016. He’s a shy, older guy, but has always been close with his best friends, Maxwell and Petunia.
Cora

Cora, Claire, Vivian & Maria were rescued in a hoarding case in 2017. Cora was pregnant at the time, and had her beautiful babies at the sanctuary. She’s a sassy, affectionate, and sweet girl who loves attention.
Claire

Cora, Claire, Vivian & Maria were rescued in a hoarding case in 2017. Claire is a shy girl but never far from her best friend Cora.
Lulu

Lulu and her partner JJ were rescued from a breeder in 2017. They were inseparable partners through their years, reminding us of how deeply pigs bond. JJ sadly passed away in 2022 of renal failure, and though Lulu still grieves for him, her family uplifts her everyday to let her know she is loved.

Buddy Holly, Piggy Sue, Jack & Jill

These 4 special individuals came to CTPR when a sanctuary in California closed due to their main caretaker’s old age and dementia. Her family wanted the pigs gone from the property, and these were among the remaining pigs who needed a home to avoid euthanasia. Two amazing rescuers drove them to us in late 2018. Buddy & Piggy had never been around other pigs before. Jack and Jill were so shy. We worked hard to integrate them into various groups, but it wasn’t until this particular family in Cedar Hills that all four of them finally began to feel welcome and appreciated.

Piggy Sue was one of the shyest pigs, but after years of work and some special moments with an acoustic guitar, Piggy Sue finally accepts proximity and attention from us.

Steve, Mike & Robbie

Steve and his sons Mike, Robbie and Chip were rescued from a breeder in Mississippi. The family was supposed to go to another rescue, but when rumors surfaced that this rescue planned to continue breeding them (in fact, not a rescue at all), we intercepted. Chip was adopted by a wonderful family quickly. Mike and Robbie are very shy, sweet boys who love their dad. Steve is all charisma and affection! In 2020, Steve had a personal Renaissance and decided he no longer liked his friend group. When we relocated, we knew Steve would need to join the Cedar Hills neighborhood. His confidence was restored and he even gained a new best friend in Jojo!

Jojo & Pearl

Jojo & Pearl hail from California, and owe their initial rescue to Farm Animal Refuge Jojo is a Yucatan pig who was rescued from a testing lab. Pearl is a potbelly who was rescued in a hoarding case. The two met when we agreed to give a forever home to Jojo, and she needed a companion while she was in foster with the Kitten Lady. Pearl taught Jojo all about being a pig as she finally began to experience freedom. Jojo is a spunky, nonstop kinda gal, and Pearl is a gentle, affectionate angel.
